Sculpture

New avenues for sculptural work give focus to the language & essence of clay and other materials. This direction gives less importance to creating and designing a stylised form and more on what the clay material can achieve through other methods of manipulation. By exploring the geology of the clay and its receptive nature, the cavities and voids pertaining to the emotional self are made visible.

Through contact with the rugged Dartmoor & West Yorkshire landscapes, obscure rock formations of Hampi, South India and the geological phenomena of remote Shetland Isles, a language has been developed that reflects the ephemeral & curious nature of the makers emotional world.

As an artist known for working with both clay based materials and artists acrylic paint, explorations with welded steel and mixed media in recent years have given way to the renewal of the life of selected cast offs such as slate and lead.

The unique work attracts major interest and many pieces now belong in private collections around the world.
